The Dubbo Pickleball Centre is thrilled to announce our biggest community event yet: Pickleball 500 —a marathon weekend of non-stop pickleball action designed to raise vital funds for the incredible team at Dubbo Pink Angels .

Whether you’re a total beginner who has never picked up a paddle, a seasoned local player, or someone looking to support a fantastic cause, we invite you to join us at Elston Park (corner of Bultje and Fitzroy Street) for an unforgettable 3-day event!

�� Why We Are Rallying for Dubbo Pink Angels

When: Friday 16th, Saturday 17th & Sunday 18th October.

Where: Dubbo Pickleball Centre, Elston Park Courts, Dubbo NSW.

The Goal: 500 x 15-Minute Games of non-stop pickleball across 10 courts!

Entry Fee: $5 per person per 15-minute game (Teams of 4 players).

Skill Level: All skill levels welcome! From first-time players to experienced regulars—everyone can get involved.

Dress Code: Wear Pink! Deck yourself out in pink clothing, tutus, or accessories to show your support on the court!

100% of all player proceeds raised during the Pickleball 500 will go directly to Pink Angels Inc.

For years, the Dubbo Pink Angels have provided practical, compassionate care and support to local breast cancer patients and their families throughout Dubbo and the surrounding regional areas. From fuel and grocery vouchers to medical costs, travel support, and specialized care packs delivered during treatment, Pink Angels ensures no one in our community faces a breast cancer diagnosis alone.

By coming out for just one 15-minute game (or playing a few!), you’ll be making a direct impact on the lives of those in our community affected by breast cancer.

Hello Dubbo Pickleballers!

The holidays are just around the corner, but that doesn't mean we have to stop playing! Greg and the team have put together a special holiday schedule so you can still get your pickleball fix before the New Year break.

Here are the sessions running this week:

Sunday, 21st: 8:00 pm

How to Play Pickleball (The 5-Minute Guide)

You've heard the name, you've seen the courts... but what is this game?

Pickleball is exploding in popularity for one simple reason: it's incredibly fun and remarkably easy to learn. You can have a proper back-and-forth rally in your very first session.

While you'll pick it up fast by just playing, here are the four absolute basics you need to know.

1. The Serve: Start it Simple

The game starts with an underarm serve.

You must hit the ball below your waist.
You serve diagonally across the court (like tennis).
The serve has to land past the front box, which is called the "Kitchen".

2. The Kitchen: Stay Out! (Sort of)

The "Kitchen" is the 2.1-metre (7-foot) "Non-Volley Zone" on both sides of the net.

You cannot hit a volley (hitting the ball out of the air) while standing in the Kitchen.
You can go into the Kitchen to hit a ball that has already bounced.
This rule is the secret sauce of pickleball. It stops people from just standing at the net and smashing everything, which is what creates those long, fun, strategic rallies.

3. The "Two-Bounce Rule"

This is the most unique rule in pickleball, but it's simple:

The serve must bounce once before the receiver can hit it.
The return of serve must also bounce once before the serving team can hit it.
After those two bounces (one on each side), the rule is off. Players can then choose to hit the ball out of the air (volley) or let it bounce. This rule also helps get a rally started.

4. The Scoring: Earn Your Points

You can only score points when your team is serving. Games are normally played to 11 points , and you must win by 2.

Reading rules is one thing, but seeing it is much easier. The best way to understand the flow of the game is to watch a quick explainer.

That's it! Those are the basics. The rest—like why players yell "0-0-2!"—will make perfect sense after a game or two.

Don't overthink it. Come on down to the club. We've got all the paddles and balls you need, and the friendliest group of players who are always keen to show a new person the ropes.

If you're curious about the game but don't have a paddle, don't stress!

Paddles Provided: We have a great supply of club paddles available for all our sessions. You can try the game without having to buy any gear.
Balls Provided: We always have the official pickleballs on hand.
Just Bring You: All you need to show up with is a water bottle and a pair of comfortable, flat-soled sports shoes (like runners or tennis shoes).
